How I Use Technology & AI in the Classroom

I use technology and AI intentionally to enhance language learning and provide differentiated support for students. These tools allow learners to practise French at their own pace, receive immediate feedback, and repeat tasks without pressure, which helps build confidence, autonomy, and willingness to take linguistic risks. Technology is never used as a replacement for teaching; instead, I guide students in using it thoughtfully and responsibly while addressing its limitations. Human interaction remains central in my classroom through collaboration, discussion, and authentic communication. Overall, I use technology to amplify learning opportunities while maintaining the social, relational, and pedagogical elements that are essential to effective language acquisition.

Canadian Teacher Resources for Using Technology & AI

This resource helps teachers using technology in Ontario FSL classrooms by clarifying why, how, and under what conditions technology actually improves student learning, rather than treating tech as an add-on: https://peopleforeducation.ca/report/connecting-to-success-technology-in-ontario-schools/

This ETFO resource supports teachers using technology and AI in Ontario FSL classrooms by offering practical, ethical, and classroom-relevant guidance that aligns with Ontario education policies and professional responsibilities: https://www.etfo.ca/about-us/member-advice/prs-matters-bulletins/artificial-intelligence-in-education-advice-for-members

This OTFFEO inquiry report provides practical classroom examples of how technology can be meaningfully integrated in Junior Extended French and French Immersion settings. It highlights how digital tools support student engagement, differentiation, and authentic language use by offering multiple ways for students to communicate, collaborate, and create in French. The resource also acknowledges real classroom challenges and emphasizes reflective, curriculum-aligned technology use that enhances learning rather than replacing strong pedagogy: https://www.otffeo.on.ca/en/learning/tlc/report/integrating-technology-in-the-junior-extended-french-classroom/
